Multi-platform reputation scan (2026-07)
Key clarification: the Soviet-era state research institute (founded 1958 by Prof. Ioseb Zhordania, formerly a WHO collaborating centre per older GFMER literature) and today's clinic are distinct entities. The current operator is a private company — LLC "Ioseb Zhordania Named Clinic", ID 402044355, registered 14 January 2017, at 33 Ermile Bedia St, Tbilisi, branded "I. Zhordania Memorial Medical Center"; its director Giorgi Kipiani is the founder of Vivo Medical Group, which also owns Tbilisi Central Hospital, Bokhua Memorial Cardiovascular Center, Innova Medical Center and the sister IVF clinic Innova In Vitro (per the 08.ge business directory, Yell.ge and vivomedical.ge). In May 2023 the group's clinics, including Zhordania, signed an agreement with Accreditation Canada (Qmentum International) — an agreement, not a completed accreditation; no completion record was found as of July 2026. The institute's 1997 IVF department is claimed in the lineage of both this clinic and the separate In Vitro/LeaderMed clinic (privatized from the institute around 2010 per PlacidWay) — two unrelated present-day competitors sharing one origin story.
Reputation: Yandex Maps 4.4/5 (9 ratings, 4 short positive reviews, Jul 2026); 100doc.ge 4.1/5 (16 reviews spanning 2023–2025, the most credible public sample — praise for facilities, Dr. Soso Sanikidze and the obstetric team of Maka Chikovani and Mamuka Nemsadze, against complaints about reception rudeness, undelivered test-result emails, and, notably, two 1-star Russian-language reviews naming fertility doctor Irma Tortladze for denying an appointment existed, rushing consultations and what the reviewer described as "gaslighting" over whether to continue a pregnancy — one-sided, no clinic response); Madloba 5.0/5 (6 reviews whose uniform five-star testimonial style looks unnatural; the Madloba listing's address is on Chachava St, not the Bedia St main campus, and may in fact point to the group's perinatal site). A user comment on the surrogacy directory Expecting.ai alleges that "all the reviews except one are fake… bots with different places of residence" — this matches the fake-review allegation we had archived earlier and is now located at that source (page blocks direct access; content verified via search index). No independent patient threads were found on Reddit, English surrogacy forums, Otzovik, iRecommend or 2GIS; old posts on the Russian Probirka forum (access restricted) reportedly include one failed-IVF-but-kind-doctors account and one very satisfied account. Chinese-language coverage consists solely of agency promotion pages (translit names vary wildly) claiming 70%/85% transfer pregnancy rates versus the 65% cited in Russian directories — all unaudited marketing figures; one Chinese agency page even lists a wrong address and attributes the Spanish IVI partnership of sister clinic Innova In Vitro to Zhordania.
Entity update and medical team audit (2026-07-07)
A third active entity was identified this round: the Zhordania & Khomasuridze Institute of Reproductology (reproinstitute.ge, Georgian only), which presents itself as the direct heir of the 1958 lineage and lists ~18 named doctors. Its director Archil Khomasuridze is the most independently verifiable figure in Georgian reproductive medicine (English Wikipedia page: 660+ publications, institute head since 1985, honorary citizen of Tbilisi 2023); clinical director Lali Pkhaladze has named PubMed work (adolescent-PCOS inositol RCT, PMID 27635134) and joined the European Society of Gynecology board in 2025 — though one of her co-authored papers (PMID 34919250) has been retracted, which we note as a matter of record. This institute and the Vivo-group "I. Zhordania Memorial Medical Center" (LLC 402044355, perinatal-centred) are separate same-name entities; the Vivo marketing claim that "the institute merged into the group in 2016" conflicts with the institute's continued independent existence (possible brand/campus split, pending verification). Practical takeaway: confirm which entity you are dealing with — this profile's scores and reviews track the Vivo clinic at 33 Bedia St, and the institute's academic pedigree must not be transferred to it. The Vivo clinic's own roster (clinical head Mamuka Nemsadze, fertility lead Nana Kurashvili, perinatal lead Maka Chiqovani; 51 doctors indexed on YDoc with zero reviews) has essentially no independent academic records. Cross-clinic note: fertility endocrinologist Nana Janelidze-Kurashvili appears simultaneously at ReproART (official Facebook), as a Zhordania Medical Center lead (vipmed directory) and on agency Stork Service's team page — a typical example of Georgia's multi-affiliation norm; confirm your doctor's actual practice location before signing.
